You would think that Netflix, a company that mail movie rentals to homes, would develop a new branch that sell these dvds. However, when the opportunity arose, they decided not to act. they made this decision because they feel the market is not there. They see that people are not buying and collecting like they once did. I disagree with this decisions. With all the competition in the field, and thing you can do to separate yourself from the pack I would do. Hollywood has already brought it to them and asked if they would sell videos, all they would need to do is add a buy button. People will still buy movies, and since they are online, instead of clicking rent I believe many would choose the option to buy it. Netflix should have gotten a head start on this, but now it looks like they are going to be left behind.
I am not sure if I agree with Netflix's decision either, but in the sense that they should have at least tried out the service for a temporary amount of time. I don't think the market is big enough to make DVD sales a main component of Netflix, but it would not take too much capital to try because of the compatibility of its current infrastructure.
